Company officials said the can’s liner can deteriorate over time which poses a risk of the cans rupturing.
Redken has received 41 reports of cans rupturing. Nobody has been injured.
The cans of mousse were sold at hair salons and beauty supply stores nationwide from January 1998 through February 2011.

Venessa Hudgens cut her hair and sported a cool spin to the “Ombre” look.
She had this to say about her new look…..
“I started getting cut crazy, but tonight I just tucked it under because I haven’t had time to do my hair this evening. I think I might have it long soon again though for the music festivals and whatnot. But I think it’s fun. I just love changing my look. I get bored with it being stagnant.”
The truth is I am kind of over the whole Ombre highlights. Not because I don’t like the way it looks, more because I am over the buzz of it all.
I hope you find this as funny and interesting as I do….
Procter & Gamble announced Thursday they have recalled 10 shades of Clairol Natural Instincts hair coloring in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico, citing a mismatch that could potentially cause an undesired color.
Procter & Gamble stated that they discovered a mismatched sachet in the product’s kits that could lead to a different color than intended.
The sachet is designed to give a boost of color to users’ hair two weeks after an initial hair coloring stage.
Procter & Gamble said the primary hair colorant in the product is not affected by the recall, adding all of the products in the kit remain safe to use.
They are removing the products from stores. Consumers with one of the Clairol Natural Instincts kits can use everything in the product, including the main colorant and color conditioning treatment, but should discard the ColorFresh Revitalizer sachet.
Customers who have purchased the recalled shades can call Clairol for a replacement number at 866-493-0512.
The Natural Instincts shades affected by the recall are:
– Shade 16 Light Auburn (Spiced Tea)
– Shade 35 Brown Black (Ebony Mocha)
– Creme Shade 03G Light Golden Blonde (Honey Creme)
– Creme Shade 7.5 Dark Blonde (Maple Creme)
– Creme Shade 21G Medium Golden Brown (Caramel Creme)
– Creme Shade 23R Medium Auburn (Raspberry Creme)
– Creme Shade 30R Dark Auburn (Cherry Creme)
– Creme Shade 31 Darkest Brown (Coffee Creme)
– Vibrant Shade 9 Natural Light Blonde (Blonde Vibrance)
– Vibrant Shade 10 Extra Light Blonde (Sun-Kissed Blonde)
My Thoughts: Color in a box…. really? Just don’t do it! We do it better every time and that I will guarantee. Design, integrity and consistency seem to be just a few of the things lacking in this box!
A great way to create a quick growth in our business (working behind the chair) is to use what’s around us! Essentially what I am getting at is to be resourceful.
Well lets be resourceful this month! For those of you who don’t know the month it’s April. There is a particular day this month in April that stands out to me: EARTH DAY; April 22nd.
This is a fabulous opportunity to create all sorts of buzz and excitement in your world. Find ways to capitalize on this day! Not only for the benefits that come with the growth of your business but the benefits of raising awareness of making the earth a better place.
So your probably asking right now, “what do you mean?” or “how the heck am I going to do that?”
Well…. In the end you have to find what works best for you but….. here are some great ideas.
Gain attention through your Facebook page by increasing awareness of some helpful ways to “make the world a better place.” The catch here is to relate it to what you do. For instance talk about possible ways of conserving water while washing your hair or educating your guests on what bottles of products are recyclable.
Want an even better example of this, check out Pureology’s Facebook Page, they are posting great Earth Day tips everyday this month – check it out here.
Another great idea – Offer a particular service and donate the proceeds to an organization dedicated to the conservation of the planet. Make it something like a brow wax – a low ticket item that will gain massive attention at a low cost and almost everyone needs the service. Run this promotion all month long.
One last great idea – There is an awesome Disney movie about Lions called African Cats showing only on earth day in theaters. Offer a contest with all your guests. Anyone who pre-books their appointment is automatically entered into a drawing to win two free tickets to go see the movie. Maybe even throw a blow dry for the movie night into the mix.
I think you get the idea!
Have any other ideas?
I would love to hear them in the comments section!
Here is a great article put together by stylelist.com that offers some great ideas on how to make your hair good to go no matter what the weather brings.
They break it down in categories that range from rain, snow and even humidity (and for those of you who live in this climate know that it is not an easy task).
I thought there were a lot of great Hot Tips in this article and I think it’s worth checking out.
As always with most of these “articles” this is a ploy to sell products and entice consumers on the benefits of the particular product they are referencing. None the less, these types of write ups offer great advice that you can easily translate from what they suggest into any product that you love!
It seems Walgreens & SheaMoistre are teaming up to launch a new “Organic” Hair Care System.
SheaMoisture, committed to creating the highest quality, natural products at affordable prices, has partnered with Walgreens to launch a new line of hair care. With Walgreens as SheaMoisture’s exclusive national drugstore retail partner, consumers now have easy access to natural, therapeutic and sustainable hair products.
“We are very excited to launch our newest collection at Walgreens,” says Richelieu Dennis, Founder and CEO of Sundial Creations, maker of SheaMoisture. ”They have been a key partner in the growth of our business and we are enthusiastic about bringing organic hair care products to such a broad consumer base.”
The SheaMoisture hair care line consists of shampoos, conditioners and styling aids available in four varieties: Raw Shea & Argan Oil, Coconut & Hibiscus, Yucca and Baobab and African Black Soap. This launch also includes two new hair kits – the Curl & Shine Kit and the Repair & Transition Kit – which contain travel sized versions of the Coconut & Hibiscus and Raw Shea hair collection.
My thoughts: It is always very interesting to me when a drug-store based company taps into the Salon Quality market. The biggest difference between what a salon has to offer and the drug-store will always be the relationship between our clients and theirs. This instantly gives the salon professional and the client the advantage of finding the correct product for them, making sure they have a complete customized styling regime.
Stylists, I have stressed this before and always will to every stylist that reads my blog.
Products sold in drug-stores are not a competitive disadvantage for you. When your guest/client is in your chair make sure that you take the time to show and tell them what is right for their hair. They need and want to use what you recommend because if they are coming to you, they like what you do and I promise you, they want to recreate what you do at your salon.
There is something to be said by a hairstyle that takes years off of your look.
My Thoughts: I love the idea of most of these. However, coming from the perspective of a hairstylist I think its very important to note that a look on one might not work for the other. Our facial shape 80% of the time will dictate what looks are great for us. So even though Jennifer Goodwin is looking Hot in that short DO, we can’t forget to take the time to make it work for each person. Personalizing in this case is key!
