*DISCLAIMER- REALLY CUTE KITTY PHOTOS AHEAD- I AM CRAZY*
We all have suck days. Today I am just feeling extra suck- if you will. I am wanting to vent a little bit- to put it out there to all of you front desk warriors that you are not alone. So let’s reflect together. If there is something I am missing- please- feel free to add it to the list. Hang onto your horseshoes people- because here we go!
1) Bathroom over flows during the busiest part of the day. Busy as in “there are like three people waiting to be checked out (I’m sure at least one of them has an expired coupon you are going to have to honor), someone needs their station swept, a new person just walked in, and there are two people waiting on the phone, OH WAIT… and you have to pee but have no time to do it” kinda busy…

2) Someone walks in with an “appt” that was never booked- heh? Blame it on the newbie?
3) Did I forget to place a color order? Let’s get creative!
4) Oopsies- the credit card terminal is down- guess who gets to spend 5 hours on the phone with the merchant peeps? YOU front desk person, YOU!!! (And its more like 8 hours a day for the next 2 days…)
YOU!!! YOU!!!!! THE DELIVERER OF ALL THINGS BAD!!!!!
7) On a bathroom break someone else checks a guest out and forgets to charge for either the services, products… Or both. Why not?
8 ) So you finally magically and miraculously, thank you lord, after several problem solving strategy hours, finagle a way to work in so and so’s standings for the year- HOORAY! YOU ARE AWESOME!!! Then they call back the next day to let you know they can now only do Fridays in the afternoon- back to he drawing board. (Bang head against desk here.)
9) A stylist informs you that they are an hour behind when you are about an hour away from closing time- WHOOOSH!!!! What was that? The sound of your dinner plans going out the window?
10) Washer/ dryer/ hot water heater/ electrical outlets or any other important functioning anything takes a break for the rest of the week…should we just close up early for the day?
Just thought I would throw in a few of the fun things that happen on any given salon day- no matter how good of a salon you have- life happens. These are the times when I grab a dark chocolate and sneak into a dark corner and take a few mental stability breaths.

Also I like to tell myself on these days that there are really only about 8 hours to the work day and then it will all be over! The next day is to start a new. I also sing a song to myself that goes like this, ” happy happy happy happy happy!”. That kinda helps me get through the day.
Bad things happen- we have to laugh at them and learn. Share below your bad day dilemmas and how you resolve them!

Hopefully your clients don’t read this.
