I love this color! Not much more to say other than how much I love this color!!
I mean it’s Gwyneth Paltrow, when does her color ever look bad? Pretty much never.
But… with that said, this color is a little fresh for her. I love the use of gold and the soft touch of low lights that really don’t extend to the ends.
In this Hair Color Wednesday we are going to break down this color and I am going to share one of my most favorite blonde hair color techniques ever – color fusion!!
My formula:
Natural level = 7 Previously Highlighted/Blonde Hair
Working with a natural shade of blonde, I am really looking to enhance and brighten her overall color but still give it a subtle dimension of color.
Dividing the hair into 4 sections.
- Temple to Temple (to behind the crown)
- Bellow Temple – Right
- Bellow Temple – Left
- Back
Using a Powder Lightener begin to highlight the hair:
- Bellow the temple take diagonal back sections and use medium sized slices. Continue working your way from the bottom to top of each section.
- Working in the Mohawk section, highlight in a standard weaving technique throughout the entire top section.
In between the foils, throughout the top section, use a technique that I refer to as Color Fusion.
Basically what you will do is fuse a color from the roots to the mid shaft and flicking the color towards the ends, making sure not to apply color towards the ends of the hair. This will give an amazing low lighted color throughout the top that will blend into the ends giving an amazing natural brighter look towards the ends of the hair.
Completely natural! And super effective!
My formula of choice in this instance on a natural level 7 would be to use an 8 level warmest gold. The benefit of this will be to maximize the shine and warmth of the natural level 7.
Give it a try and see what you think. Really works best on blondes but depending on the color palate, works great on most dimensional colors!
*** A really great note about Gwyneth Paltrow on this cover is the second shot of her showing the back of her hair. Not very common! Not to take away at all from the amazing dress that she has on or her figure… but the hair has to be pretty good to showcase the back of someone’s head.
